The seaside town of Scottburgh is situated about 60km south of Durban in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, in South Africa. It is a growing town of about 7,000 inhabitants and is a popular holiday resort for South African families during the school holidays and overseas tourists all year round. Scottburgh shares boundaries with the tribal lands of the Zulu people, the mainly Indian community of Umzinto and many sugar cane farms and estates. To the east - the Indian Ocean.
As the Rotary Club of Scottburgh was chartered in 1957, 2007 was our 50th Anniversary year. We currently have 30 members plus 2 honorary members, drawn from the usual mix of professional and business people.
Rotary has always been judged by whether it lives up to its motto "Service above Self". The Rotary Club of Scottburgh has tried over the years to serve the Community faithfully and can look back with some pride to what has been achieved. Take a look at our projects that we have accomplished over the years.
Apart from the community Service work the Rotary Club of Scottburgh takes part in as many Rotary International programs as it is able to do. The Club has supported the Youth Exchange Program, The Short Term Exchange program, Group Study Exchange and the friendship Exchange.
Like Rotary Clubs everywhere we do what we can to serve and this has been our pleasure and satisfaction as Rotarians. If this short profile of some of our Club activities and programs will help to find other interested parties who would like to join in extending Rotary Service in this part of the World - then it will have served its purpose well.
