The project has been run firstly by the Uvongo Rotary Club and since amalgamation by the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast for the past 20 years.
The flea market provides the primary source of income to many households on the Lower South Coast and approximately 170 stall holders can be accomodated on the site.
Stall holders pay R37 per Saturday and R 20 per Sunday for their stall, electricity is available and the goods range from indigenous african craft items to jewellery, plants, herbs, second hand books, clothing and braai accesories, home baked bread, biscuits, fudges and sweets, kiddies toys, ornaments and for the hungry there is a boerewors and burger stall, as well as a tea garden serving cakes, breakfasts, toasted sandwiches, milkshakes and obvioulsy tea and coffee.
The flea market involves all the Rotarians in the club doing duties on a rotational basis and the funds from stall rentals are employed in the many projects run by the club
The market is a listed attraction on the Southern Explorer Website
