PETS 2008...a huge success
DG Richard opening the PETS session with DGE Hennie in close attendance
The Presidents' Elect Training session was held at the Pietermaritzburg Hospice on Saturday 15th March 2008.
The event was hosted by PDG Nick Phillips and Governor Richard Fisher opened the session in his usual relaxed, warm and charming manner.
Presiding over the event, District Governor Elect, Hennie de Bruin, spoke of his experiences in San Diego and unveiled the theme for his year of Governorship. A DVD of RI President Elect, DK Lee's presentation at the RI Assembly in January was also shown. "Make Dreams Real" is the new theme for the Rotary year 2008-2009.
DGE Hennie inspired all present to focus on reducing child mortality and encouraged incoming Presidents to embrace the theme and goals for the year ahead. Hennie has worked most of his career with children and the focus this year could not have been more appropriate and is very close to his heart.
Our Anns were hosted by incoming Anns' Governor Beth de Bruin and were enthralled by a talk by top Pediatrician from the local hospital.
It was a relaxing day with much thought provoking ideas and overall great inspiration. Topics covered included:
Role of Club President **Goal Setting**Club Administration**Membership**Service Projects**Rotary Foundation**Public relations.
Good luck Hennie and Beth as you plan forward and here's hoping that you both will "Make Dreams Real"
