Alumni Association launch a FIRST in Africa

The launch of our District Alumni Association at the Pinedene Hotel in Pinetown on Saturday 16th February 2008 has been heralded as the FIRST of its kind in Africa. The Association consists of persons who participated in the educational programmes of the Rotary Foundation and include those individuals on (Group Study Exchange, Ambassadorial Scholars, Peace Scholars and Rotary Volunteers).
Speaking at the launch, World Alumni Coordinator, Rodney Mazinter praised the District for its’ initiatives in establishing a link between Rotary and its assets, the Alumni.
District Governor Richard Fisher congratulated the committee and thanked all those who were responsible in it’s establishment. Governor elect Hennie de Bruin toasted the Alumni and noted the importance of networking for the good of our communities.
Members of the association will meet twice a year for fellowship and to assist with recruitment and mentoring of participants of the Rotary Foundation Educational programmes.
