Rotary's involvement in ECR's Toy Story

|
|
Your toy makes a difference. East Coast Radio launched Toy Story 2007 on 01 October. Toy Story is a CSI project that the station has been running for the past 8 years.
Each year listeners donate toys, tens of thousands that are distributed to homes, orphanages, child-headed households and government hospitals.
Apart from toys, the station uses all monies raised to purchase food parcels. The food parcels feed a family of 4-6, for approximately 6 weeks. The food parcels are created by the Gift of the Givers, who partner with the East Coast Radio on Toy Story.
These food parcels are designed with the family’s daily needs in mind and contain maize, rice, beans, oil, milk powder, soaps, soup, sugar, teabags, porridge and Ready Food, amongst other items.
Donations can be made directly into the East Coast Radio bank account (see details below), online, or by visiting the station.
“It is important to us that toys can be donated easily and that listeners are able to track their donations,” said Paulette Holmes, East Coast Radio Marketing Director,
“East Coast Radio ensures that every cent donated gets to the neediest beneficiaries throughout KZN.”
Toys can be dropped off at East Coast Radio House in Umhlanga, at the Gift of the Givers in PMB, with our support sponsors Vodacom (either at the VodaShops or Voda4U Stores) and Durban Deliveries in Umbilo.
“The province really embraces this project, from schools to corporates, the response is over-whelming,” said East Coast Radio MD Trish Taylor, “it is this support that enabled us to distribute 80 000 toys and feed 7000 families in 2006.”
