A moving service was held on Thursday 13 December in the Thelma Bloch
Hall at Poinsettia Park in memory of Arthur Reece. PDG Richard Fisher, AG
Rob Gilligan and many Rotarians were present as well as Arthur’s acquaint-
ances at Poinsettia Park. The service was conducted by the Reverend Gra-
ham Goodwin of the Athlone Park Methodist Church where Arthur
worshipped. He was able to provide us with his own memories of Arthur. PP
Tony Larkin, with whom Arthur shared a flat for a number of years, gave his
own reminiscences together with those of Arthur’s lifelong Friend Bert Peart.
PP Aneska Dupont described Arthur’s consuming interest in youth activities,
particularly the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme, and read a moving mes-
sage from one of the exchange students, Erin Lamoureux who had main-
tained contact with Arthur (this is attached).
PP Roy Olckers talked of Arthur’s long involvement with and service to Rota-
ry, and PDG Chris Skinner read out testimonials from many Rotarians who
had worked with Arthur but were unable to attend.
After the Service we were able to partake in Fellowship over refreshments
kindly provided by Poinsettia Park
