Rotary International President opens the 1000 Hills Child Development Centre
When news got out that Wilfrid Wilkinson, the President of Rotary International, was scheduled to visit Kwa Zulu Natal, there was no doubt that he would be asked to open the 1000 Hills Community Helpers, Child Development Centre.
Dawn Leppan is a visionary! Many years ago she had a dream about a centre to serve the community, and she let nothing get in the way of this dream! Dawn has had many people support her in her vision, yet every dream and goal needs a leader and Dawn has filled that role admirably through her love for the community. Today a part of her dream was realized, when a group of dignitaries, Rotarians and guests witnessed the official opening of the Child Development Centre.
The centre already supports children from the community who would otherwise be roaming the streets, vulnerable to bad elements in the community. Instead they are fed, tutored and have a wonderful safe playground to run off some of their excess energy in!
Dawn, together with the support of “Soul of Africa” and the Rotary Club of Inchanaga a- 1000 hills, has changed the future of these little children. Anyone wishing to visit the centre are most welcome.
